Or maybe Jesus is teaching and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom (4:23, 5:2), interpreting the Law (5:17-20), and showing us what the kingdom is like. Just a thought.
Greg, Thanks for listening! I think that Jesus was definitely teaching and proclaiming the Kingdom, but the fact remains that nobody–especially those present, who were among those later crying out for him to be crucified–imagined how that Kingdom would come. But certainly you are right. The Sermon on the Mount is, without question, the picture of what the Kingdom of God will be like. Thanks for commenting!Blessings,Jady
